Naivasha MP Jane Kihara has advised President William Ruto to remain calm and avoid confrontational rhetoric as he prepares for his 2027 re-election bid. Speaking before the press, Kihara urged the president to show restraint in his public engagements, stating, “Tuliza roho, wacha kutusi watu” (Calm your heart, stop insulting people).
Her remarks come amid growing political tensions, particularly in the vote-rich Mount Kenya region, where Ruto enjoyed overwhelming support in the 2022 elections but is now facing increasing opposition. Some residents and leaders in the region have expressed dissatisfaction with his leadership, citing unfulfilled promises and economic challenges.
President Ruto has been actively touring various parts of the country, including the North Eastern region, in what is seen as a strategic effort to consolidate support ahead of 2027. However, political analysts suggest he must address concerns from his core voter base to secure re-election.
With nearly three years until the next general election, the political landscape remains fluid. Whether Ruto can rebuild trust and maintain his influence across key regions will be a critical factor in his bid for a second term. As events unfold, Kenyans will be watching closely to see how the president navigates the mounting political pressure.
