A tragic incident has rocked Homa Bay County, where a 38 year old man has been arrested after allegedly causing the death of his seven-year-old daughter, Grachines Lovely Odingo.

The incident took place on Monday evening at their home in Minyere village, located in South Kanyikela Sub-location, Ndhiwa Sub County.

The heartbreaking discovery was made the following morning, when the girlā€™s body was found in a decomposed state inside their house, with an empty petrol bottle nearby. Reports suggest that the father forced his daughter to drink petrol, leading to her untimely death.

Grachines, a bright and cheerful grade two pupil at Minyere Primary School, was loved by both her classmates and teachers.

ā€œShe was always smiling and excited to learn,ā€ shared one of her teachers. The school community is deeply saddened by her passing, as they remember her positive spirit.

Local authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the incident. Police are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence to piece together the details surrounding the tragic event.

The father is currently in custody and is expected to face charges related to the death of his daughter.

This heartbreaking case has drawn outrage from both the local community and child rights activists, who are calling for justice and better protection for children. “This incident is a painful reminder of the need for stronger measures to address domestic violence,ā€ said a local activist.

As the investigation continues, the community is organizing a memorial service to honor Grachinesā€™ memory, offering support to the family during this difficult time.
