YouTuber and content creator Mungai Eve has sparked mixed reactions after sharing her thoughts on dating people within one’s financial class. During a recent conversation on her YouTube channel with fellow content creator Dem wa Facebook, Mungai emphasized the importance of dating individuals who are at a similar financial level, explaining that this ensures mutual respect and avoids unnecessary relationship tension.
“If I make KSh 1 million and you earn KSh 80,000, I will unconsciously disrespect you,” Mungai remarked, explaining that compatibility in financial standing is crucial for a harmonious relationship. She went on to clarify that she can only date someone who can provide her with KSh 500,000 when needed because she is also capable of returning the favor. “Right now, I am dating my man because I can ask him for KSh 1 million, and this is an example. And I can give him too,” she said, emphasizing mutual financial support within their relationship.
Mungai further explained that the relationship works because they can both support each other financially. “If you can ask me for KSh 200,000, I will give you because I know you can also give me,” she added, highlighting the importance of balance in a relationship. Mungai even joked that if her partner needed a car’s logbook, she could provide one as she owns two cars.
However, her sentiments did not go without criticism. Some netizens took to social media to bash her for focusing too much on financial status, while others defended her, urging people to date those who align with their lifestyle and financial goals. Some even suggested she learn from embattled businessman Khalif Kairo for life lessons on financial stability and relationships.
Mungai’s comments have opened up a larger debate on the role of financial compatibility in relationships and whether it should be a deciding factor when choosing a partner. Her statement has certainly raised eyebrows, prompting discussions about what people value most in a relationship love, compatibility, or financial stability.
