Prominent businessman and political commentator Alinur Mohamed has launched a scathing attack on Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, accusing him of corruption and mismanagement of public funds.

In a strongly worded statement on social media, Alinur referred to Mutuse as a “conman and a thief”, citing an Auditor General report that allegedly exposes financial misappropriation under the MP’s leadership.

“MP Mwengi Mutuse is actually a conman and a thief. According to Auditor General reports, this idiot spent Kshs 9.9 million to construct a school swimming pool, but there was no water availability in the area, so it’s never been used. Useless priorities,” Alinur posted.

The post, which quickly went viral, has reignited conversations about corruption in Kenya’s political landscape, with many questioning the rationale behind funding a non-functional project in an area lacking basic water supply.

The Auditor General’s report highlights financial irregularities in various government projects, with Mutuse’s Kshs 9.9 million swimming pool project emerging as one of the most questionable expenditures.

The report suggests that due diligence may not have been conducted before commissioning the project, leading to the waste of taxpayers’ money.

Public outcry has followed, with Kenyans expressing frustration over mismanagement of public funds while basic needs such as water, healthcare, and education remain underfunded in many areas. Critics argue that such projects reflect poor leadership and misplaced priorities.
