Reuben Kiborek, a close ally of President William Ruto and a Member of Parliament from Rift Valley, faced the wrath of the crowd in Embu after attempting to attack Cabinet Secretary for Public Works, JB Muturi. Muturi, who hails from Embu and enjoys strong local support, was met with cheers, while Kiborek was heckled for his remarks.

The incident occurred when Kiborek criticized Muturi over his recent stance against the government, particularly his condemnation of the surge in abductions. The MP accused Muturi of hypocrisy, arguing that during his tenure as Speaker of the National Assembly, extrajudicial killings were rampant, yet he remained silent. However, the crowd did not take kindly to Kiborek’s remarks, reacting with boos and jeers.

At first, Kiborek seemed unfazed and attempted to rally the crowd, asking if they agreed with him that Muturi was being hypocritical. Instead, the heckling intensified. Realizing he was losing the audience, he was forced to abandon the attack and shift to a different topic.

This incident comes at a time when Muturi has been fearlessly calling out the government on various issues. Kiborek’s decision to confront him in Embu, a region where Muturi’s party, the Democratic Party (DP), is dominant, appears to have been a political miscalculation.
