Ngunjiri Wambugu, a political advisor and ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Public Service CS Justin Muturi’s criticism of President William Ruto’s government.

In a statement, Wambugu drew parallels between Muturi’s current stance and Ruto’s actions during the previous administration under President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Wambugu pointed out that Ruto, while serving as Deputy President, openly criticized the Uhuru government for years, yet remained in his position.

He argued that if Ruto could challenge the government from within during that time, then Muturi should not be pressured to resign for doing the same now. His statement, “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander,” suggests that the same standards should apply to both situations.

This remark highlights the ongoing political tensions within Kenya’s leadership and raises questions about the consistency of expectations for government officials who voice dissent.

Wambugu’s statement also underscores the complex dynamics within the ruling coalition, as leaders navigate their roles and responsibilities amidst growing public concern over issues like abductions and extrajudicial killings.

“Those saying CS JB Muturi should resign for challenging government whilst working within it should remember Ruto did it for 4 years. What’s good for goose is good for duck.” Ngunjiri Wambugu says
