Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director Mohamed Amin have finally appeared before the High Court in Milimani after weeks of defying summons over the mysterious disappearance of three men in Mlolongo.

IG Kanja took the witness stand on Thursday, January 30, to explain the whereabouts of the missing individuals, marking his first court appearance after snubbing three consecutive summons.

His previous absences had sparked public outrage, with critics accusing him of disregarding the Judiciary and failing to uphold accountability in the security sector.

The two top security officials had been ordered to appear in court to provide answers regarding the abductions, which have raised concerns about enforced disappearances in the country.

Their court appearance comes just days after the High Court temporarily suspended an earlier order requiring them to testify on Monday, January 27.

The case has put immense pressure on law enforcement agencies, with human rights activists and families of the missing individuals demanding justice and transparency.

The disappearance of the three men in Mlolongo remains a highly contentious issue, with allegations of police involvement fueling public distrust.

All eyes are on the proceedings to see whether the top police bosses will provide concrete answers or if the case will take another legal twist.

The Judiciary, civil society, and the families of the missing men are keenly watching for any accountability measures or explanations that could shed light on the unresolved abductions.
