Lydia wanjiku from kiambu has narrated how she learned that she was HIV positive when she was nursing her husband, her in laws said that she infected him and they chased her away with their two kids.
According to her is that she met her husband in Nairobi where she was working at a certain shop and they fell in love and she got married to him and they were blessed with two kids.
After a while they moved to her husband village and they build a house there and her husband went back to Nairobi where he was working and he used to come on weekends.
Lydia says that after one year, one day she received a call from her husband friends who asked her to go to Nairobi because her husband was really sick.She went and came back home with him and they took him to a local hospital and he was admitted.
She says that the next day when she went to visit her husband the doctors asked her to take HIV test since her husband tested positive, to her shock after the test she was also HIV positive.
She says that when she went back home she never told anyone but when the mother in law visited her son in hospital she knew everything, Her husband was discharged and they went back home and that when thing became worse and he passed on.
Lydia says that after they buried her husband,her inlaws chased her away with the two kids saying that she was the one who infected their son with the virus.She says that life was not good since that time stigma was very high but she thank God she was able to overcome it and now she a guide and counselling of HIV and Aids.
