A plan is being mooted to have the powers of a Governor reduced and to have a powerful man be appointed by the head of state President William Ruto to run some affairs of the said county
Reports have it that the national government led by the head of state President William Ruto is forcing a Governor to have some functions of his government hived off and run by the national government.
A person who will lead the national government work in the hived off functions has already been identified and this powerful man will be sitting in the cabinet.
The plan came about following of the Governor by the county MCAs.
It is worth noting that if this kind of thing happens, it will not be the first time. When the Former Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko was impeached, the then President Uhuru Kenyatta formed the now defunct Nairobi Metropolitan Services, NMS which was led by Lieutenant General Mohammed Badi .
The NMS was formed by executive order and operated until the Sakaja led government came into office in 2022.
It is very interesting that this said individual will seat in the cabinet. The constitution is very clear on who is suppose to sit in the cabinet and all eyes are wide open to see if the move will be opposed in the courts by litigants.
