Whenever a new year sets in many to seek divine intervention by ensuring that they visit scared areas so as to pray and also fast. This was the case of Beth Muthoni from Kagumoini village in Gatundu South.

Beth Muthoni Watuku, a 44-year-old single mother from Kagumoini village in Gatundu South, was tragically found dead on January 18, 2025, at the Kimunyu shrine caves. She had left home on January 16 to pray and fast, seeking a breakthrough in her life, but mysteriously went missing.Photo Courtesy: Duncan Ndungu Facebook Page.

Her body was discovered with her head forcibly lodged between rocks, her jaw injured, and signs of blunt force trauma. Empty bottles with unknown fluids were found near her, suggesting she may have been drugged before being killed.

The shrine, known as a place of prayer and worship, raises questions about how such a horrific crime could happen in such a sacred setting. The place is known to host several people day and night raising questions about why no one was there and why she chose to stay isolated.

The community now demands answers and justice for her brutal murder.
