Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that President William Ruto secretly writes speeches for Kenya Kwanza Alliance MPs. Speaking at a church service in Laikipia East Constituency on Sunday morning, Gachagua made the startling revelation about his former boss’s behind-the-scenes control of political messaging.
According to Gachagua, during his tenure as deputy president, Ruto personally scripted controversial statements for him, including the widely criticized “shareholding government” remarks. “When you see MPs speaking, it’s Ruto who has sent them. I was with him, and he used to write for me what to say,” Gachagua told the congregation at PCEA Emmanuel Matanya.
The former deputy president pointed to recent statements by Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama about Mt Kenya’s potential isolation in 2027 as evidence of Ruto’s continued control over party messaging. Gachagua claimed these remarks were part of a larger strategy to divide the Mount Kenya region.
The political fallout between the two leaders has intensified since Gachagua’s removal from office. He now claims the scripted speeches were designed to damage his public image, particularly noting how the president later criticized the same shareholding concept he had allegedly instructed Gachagua to promote.
During the same church service, Gachagua addressed the Mount Kenya region’s political future. He stated that the region possesses significant numerical strength and needs to maintain unity ahead of the 2027 general election.
The revelation comes amid growing tensions within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, with Gachagua emerging as a vocal critic of the administration he once served.
The former deputy president’s claims have shed light on the internal workings of political communication within the ruling coalition, suggesting a centralized approach to message control.
