According to the Nation newspaper, CMV Motors is closing its operations in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The majority of Kenyans believe that the primary reason for the closure is a poor business environment caused by Ruto’s high taxes. However, Robert Alai has revealed more information.

Alai, a blogger and MCA, claims that some lazy journalists in the media will blame Ruto for the closure of CMC.

He added that the owner, Al-Futtaim, purchased CMC because of assets such as land on the automotive dealership’s books.

Alai claimed that they were deceiving Kenyans by pretending to deal in a few brands here and there, but that they have now applied for a change of use and intend to build shopping malls on the pieces of land.

Alai urged Kenyans to remember that Al-Futtaim also owns the Carrefour supermarket chain.

“Some lazy journalist in the media houses will blame Ruto for the closure of CMC. Al-Futtaim bought CMC because of the assets like land which was in the books of the automotive dealership. Blinding us by pretending to deal in few brands here and there but now they have applied for change of use and want to build shopping malls on the pieces of land. Remember that the same Al-Futtaim also owns Carrefour chain of supermarkets.” Robert Alai said

Reactions:

“The companies have been closing their shops due to hard economic times. Unfortunately the government of kenya has not applied favourable measures to lessen the burden. May be if the government reconsider the industrial park and make it easier for investors to set up industries things will turn around. I am very optimistic.” Nick Agik said.

“It’s because of Economy pressure, buana Alie tell your Ruto that all businesses in Kenya is soon collapsing.” David Nyambok said.

“Robert Alai you have decided to carry all the burden of this government in the name of Baba is going to win AUC.” Kenneth Obiero said.

“Would they have closed if business environment wasn’t bad and if they were doing good business?” Lemara said.
