Popular police officer Sammy Ondimu Ngare has expressed deep sadness following a tragic incident in Suswa, Narok County, on Friday, where a police officer lost his hand during protests.

Ngare, known for advocating for the welfare and rights of police officers through his ‘Askari ni Binadamu’ initiative, revealed that the incident left him deeply traumatised and unable to sleep.

Through a heartfelt message, he urged fellow officers to prioritize their safety while on duty. He emphasized that their families depend on them and need them to return home alive.

Ngare expressed his pain over the situation, imagining the suffering of the injured officer and the emotional impact on his family, especially his children who may have seen the viral video of the incident.

He called on his colleagues to remain cautious and take care of themselves, highlighting the risks they face daily in their line of duty.

The injury of the officer came after residents protested to demand compensation after a motorist ran over unspecified number of sheep in the highway. Police officers were deployed to quell the protests that’s when one of the officers was ambushed and his hand chopped off. The police were able to recover his firearm but without a magazine.
