Businesswoman Sarah Mtalii has opened up about the emotional challenges that led to the end of her marriage with Simon Kabu, revealing that she emotionally detached from the union long before their public separation. In an interview with Dr. Ofweneke, Sarah disclosed that she began to feel disconnected from her marriage two years prior to their split. Despite this, she stayed for the sake of her children and their family dynamic. āI was raised in a close-knit family, and my wish was for my children to experience the same.
Each parent has a unique role in raising children, and I struggled with the idea of stepping away,ā she shared. Sarah also cited business commitments as a significant reason for remaining in the relationship. As co-founders of Bonfire Adventures, she and Simon often appeared at events and on international trips, projecting a united front. However, behind the scenes, their marriage was deteriorating. āWhen we traveled, we would find ourselves in uncomfortable situations. For instance, on a cruise, we had to share a room, which made things difficult. During the day, we worked separately to create content for the business,ā Sarah revealed.
Despite seeking help from multiple counselors and therapists, reconciliation proved elusive. āWe tried our best to fix things. After seeing three leading counselors, they eventually encouraged us to explore other options as they felt they had done all they could,ā she explained. Now embracing a new chapter, Sarah reflected on her decision to leave and acknowledged that raising children as a single parent is challenging but manageable. āIāve realized itās possible to make it work,ā she concluded. Her story serves as a testament to the complexities of balancing family, business, and personal fulfillment.
