Phil Karanja, founder of Phil Production, has opened up about the lessons he learned following his divorce from actress Catherine Kamau, popularly known as Kate Actress.
During an interview with CTA (Cleaning The Airwaves), Phil revealed that he chose to reflect on himself rather than placing blame on anyone for the end of his marriage.
“Divorce pushed me to introspect, to examine where I fell short, what I missed, and what I could have improved. It’s never productive to play the blame game. During that time, I sought conversations with men and women who had experienced divorce,” he shared.
Phil also explained that these interactions inspired him to make a personal vow: to avoid harboring bitterness about the experience in the years to come.
“You meet someone who’s been divorced for five years, and they’re still bitter. I told myself I don’t want to be that person. I decided not to channel my anger or blame towards my ex-wife. Instead, I chose to focus on myself and acknowledge where I made mistakes,” he said.
Kate Actress and Phil Karanja’s Separation
In September 2023, the former couple publicly announced their divorce through a joint statement on social media. They requested privacy to protect their children.
“We reached the decision to end our marriage a while back and have since separated. We kindly ask everyone to respect our request for privacy for the sake of our children,” the statement read.
Phil reiterated that their relationship would remain amicable as they continued to co-parent and collaborate professionally.
“This is a matter between two people, but we wanted to address it briefly so we can move forward. Kate and I remain friends, co-parents, and business partners,” he stated.
Speculation about their split began in April 2023 when fans noticed that Kate had removed photos of Phil from her social media accounts. At the time, she clarified via Instagram stories that her marriage was intact.
Since their separation, Kate Actress has moved on and introduced her new partner to the public. The two have been spotted together at events and on vacations, signaling that both she and Phil are embracing their new chapters in life.
