The Public Service Commission has shortlisted a total of 109 people for the position of Principal Secretaries in various Ministries. This is in line with the broad based government that President William Ruto formed with the opposition.
He first reached out to the former Prime Minister, honorable Raila Odinga and rewarded some of his allies with prime Cabinet Secretary positions. He also reached out the former President, honorable Uhuru Kenyatta and also offered some of his allies, prime Cabinet Secretary positions.
Some of the notable figures that have been shortlisted are, Dr. Patrick Amoth who is the current Director General for Health, Dr. Ouma Oluga who is the former Secretary General of the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union also known as KMPDU.
Honorable David Osiany who is the former Chief Administrative Secretary during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reign. The former Nominated Member of Parliament and KNUT Secretary General, Wilson Sossion, Gabriel Oguda and also the former Governor of Nairobi County, honorable Alice Kananu.
The shortlisted candidates were drawn from a pull of applicants which was a total of 2517. They will be interviewed at a date which will be later communicated. Meanwhile, Kenyans have the opportunity to send in their views on any of the shortlisted candidates.
They will be required to send the information to the Secretary of the CEO of Public Service. This will be done via email. It is however not very clear what will happen to the current Principal Secretaries who are already in office.
