Lillian Maswenje who is 24 years old was a nurse before she died in a road accident along the Eldoret-Kitale Highway; her mother, Clare Khayumbi Namwenya, is today finding it hard to accept the reality of losing her daughter.

It was this young nurse, who was a source of hope to her family, who was killed on the spot during the accident that led to ten deaths.

Lillian used to work for an organization in Nairobi but had travelled to Matunda Market on the Great Rift shuttle on Friday, January 3, morning shuttle back to Nairobi to go to work after the December holidays.

Namwenya said that when she heard of the accident through social media, she dialed her telephone set hoping to talk to her daughter.

“I feel deep pain; my stomach is churning…may God help me. I just saw it online, and when I called my child’s phone, someone else answered. That’s when I started to worry, and my stomach began to ache. I gave my phone to my friend to speak to the person who had answered, and they said, “If your daughter has been in an accident, come to Soy Police Station,” mother narrated

Namwenya went to the police station where she only only got the belonging of her daughter but Lillian was nowhere to be seen.
