Meru politician Brian Mutiga has ignited political discourse with claims that Deputy President Kithure Kindiki might resign, citing strained relations with President William Ruto.
Mutiga, who unsuccessfully vied for the Kianjai Ward seat in 2022, made these remarks on social media, where he openly criticized Kindiki’s perceived lack of authority in his role.
Mutiga’s X post alleged that Kindiki is being overshadowed by powerful individuals within President Ruto’s inner circle.
“Kithure Kindiki is likely going to resign. How can one be a deputy president, but he’s being controlled by powerful MPs and PAs?” he posed, suggesting that Kindiki’s influence in government affairs is minimal.
The politician further claimed that Kindiki’s loyalty to Ruto might not be reciprocated, likening it to a one-sided relationship.
“Kithure Kindiki thinks William Ruto was the love of his life when he chose him as his DP. He thinks Gachagua was a terrible DP. But the fact is, Gachagua didn’t care about Farouk Kibet and Oscar Sudi, who technically are the real Deputy Presidents,” Mutiga wrote.
Mutiga’s remarks have fueled speculation over Kindiki’s standing in the government, with some interpreting his comments as reflective of a brewing rift between the Deputy President and President Ruto.
The Meru politician also criticized the dominance of Mount Kenya East politicians in shaping government decisions, suggesting that Kindiki’s potential resignation might even go unnoticed by those in power.
While there has been no official response from Kindiki or his office, Mutiga’s statements add to the growing chatter about the dynamics within Ruto’s administration.
As the political drama unfolds, all eyes remain on Kindiki and whether these claims will elicit a public response or action from the Deputy President.
