Ndiritu Muriithi, the newly appointed Chairman of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and former Laikipia Governor, has promised to make the tax authority more professional, fair, and service-oriented. He made this pledge during his swearing-in ceremony held on Monday, December 30, at the Supreme Court Building in Nairobi.
Ndiritu announced the extension of the tax amnesty program, which waives all penalties and interest for unpaid taxes up to December 31, 2023. He emphasized that this initiative is one of the key programs he plans to advance during his tenure.
âThe amnesty, which started on December 27, 2024, will run until June 30, 2024,â Ndiritu said, encouraging taxpayers to take advantage of the program to settle their tax obligations without additional costs.
His appointment comes at a time when KRA is working to improve tax compliance and public trust. Ndirituâs focus on fairness and service aims to create a better relationship between taxpayers and the authority, ensuring more efficient and transparent tax administration.
