The festive season in Kenya has been marred by an increase in road accidents, with a tragic incident involving an entire family adding to the grim statistics.

A devastating head-on collision between a family car and a bus claimed several lives while others sustained severe injuries.The family, reportedly travelling to their rural home for Christmas celebrations, had chosen to journey together to cut costs.

However, the trip took a fatal turn when their Toyota Prado collided with a Tata Eeba Express bus along the Makanya section of the Dar es Salaam-Kilimanjaro highway. Five family members were in the car at the time of the crash.

Preliminary reports reveal that a 49-year-old man, identified as Amos Nnko, and his 16-year-old daughter, Morine, died on the spot.

Police responded swiftly, securing the scene, assisting with the injured, and transporting the deceased to a local mortuary for postmortem examinations.

Authorities are also working on clearing the wreckage of the two vehicles to facilitate investigations into the cause of the accident.

Officials have urged motorists to exercise caution to prevent further tragedies.

As investigations continue, the nation mourns the loss of lives and prays for the recovery of the injured family members.
