A 93-year-old man from Kisii has returned to his village after spending five decades away in pursuit of a better life. Carrying only a walking stick and the wisdom of his years, the elderly man’s arrival has sparked a wave of emotions among family and neighbors.

The man, whose name has not been disclosed, left Kisii in the early 1970s, seeking opportunities abroad. His journey reportedly took him to various countries, where he worked tirelessly to improve his life and support his family back home. Over the years, contact with his relatives dwindled, and many assumed he had passed away.

However, this week, he surprised his kin by walking through the gates of his ancestral home, frail but determined. Dressed in a simple outfit, the man was greeted with ululations and tears as his relatives rushed to embrace him.

Speaking in Kisii dialect, he recounted the hardships he faced, including economic challenges, ill health, and loneliness. “Life away from home is never easy,” he said. “But I never gave up on the dream of coming back to my roots.”

Family members have expressed joy and relief at his return, with plans already underway to ensure his remaining years are comfortable. Villagers have also come together to celebrate his resilience, describing him as a living testament to the enduring spirit of their community.

The man’s story has inspired many, highlighting the importance of perseverance and the timeless value of home.
