Barely one month after allegations spread across news platforms and social media outlets that Kenyan police officers had started submitting resignation letters amid fresh blow to the political stability in the troubled land of Haiti, a fresh report has emerged on what the government has decided to do for them in bid to overcome a major challenge they have been facing while executing their job.
According to a news publication by the People’s Daily magazine on Tuesday 17, December 2024, it has been confirmed that all the Kenyan officers in Haiti have now been enrolled for French classes in bid to enhance the teamâs communication skills because language barrier has been identified as one of the serious challenges they have been facing all along.
The source further highlighted that the program is fully funded by “France through the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie and the Institut Français,” which have already pumped Sh260 million to ensure the drive is successful.

As of now, more than 1,000 police (not only from Kenya) have been effectively trained and are conversant with the language, while 400 trainees have also been awarded with French language course certificates, in a colorful ceremony that was held in Haiti on Saturday last week.
Aside from French, the officers are also being trained on how to speak Creole which is also a primary language in Haiti, with French Ambassador to Haiti, Hon Antoine Michon, sincerely expressing delight at witnessing members of the Kenyan contingent fluently converse in both French and Creole.
