Latest reports indicates that president William Ruto has assembled state machinery to ensure that the former prime minister Raila Odinga clinches the African Union commission position.

As reported by Tuesday’s Daily Nation Mwangi, it’s claimed that president William Ruto has deployed National Intelligence Service ( NIS) in Mr Odinga’s campaigns.

As reported, the head of state has tasked the agency with the role of safeguarding Mr Odinga’s campaigns and sprucing his image.

Government’s decision to incorporate Directorate of External Affairs at NIS led by Mr John Sambu into Mr Odinga’s campaigns is tipped to tap widely known networks in all embassies.

This comes as Mr Odinga is seeking to succeed Moussa Faki as AU chairperson, a position he’s being backed by President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government.

It should be noted that Mr Odinga had as well received backing from Uganda’s president Yoweri Museveni, Tanzania’s president Samia Suluhu, DRC president Tshisekedi, Rwanda president Paul Kagame among other states.

Mr Odinga’s display during last week’s Mjadala debate was exemplary and apparently, seen as the best candidate ahead of Djibouti and Madagascar candidate.
