Insecure has become one of the most sought out TV series’ by millennials because we can relate to the life of the actors.
The main character is Issa Rae who doubles up as the creator, co-writer and executive producer of the series Insecure.
Yvonne Oriji has also scooped a huge fan base. Her character in the series is completely different from who she really is. If you love Insecure, here are a few facts about Yvonne that will make you connect with her deeper than just a character.
In the series she is fiesty and opens to a lot but in real life, she is a virgin, as revealed in an interview with The Breakfast Club a while back.
She is a Nigerian-American actress, born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, then moved to Maryland when she was just 6.
Yvonne Majored in Public Health with the aim of becoming a doctor but after participating during Miss Nigeria in America, she performed stand up comedy as her talent and realized medicine is not for her. Okay other than the fact she that she hates blood.
The power of passion took over Orji. She then confessed her ambitions to her family and moved to NYC to pursue a career in comedy.

It wasn’t as easy as she had imagined however, She decided to create her own web comedy FirstGen about being first generation Nigerian in the US, which caught Issa Rae’s eye.
In 2015, she landed her breakout role on HBO’s Insecure. Since then she has appeared in a couple of episodes of Jane the Virgin. She has also been in the movie Night School with her icon, Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish.
Yvonne or Molly if you like, is now famous and a role model to many Africans who want to live their dream.
