A statement by the Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wa has caused a lot of uproar online with many Kenyans terming the remarks as insensitive.
In his statement, the Kikuyu Member of Parliament, talked about a young man whose video went viral months back demonstrating over the privatization of JKIA. In the video, the young man appeared very vocal and when asked why he was protesting, he said that it was because they wanted to sell the airport.
Now talking about the man, Kimani Ichung’wa in his remarks stated that it was evident that the man had never set his foot in an airport. Ichung’wa went further to state that the man who goes by the name Henry Omondi does not understand the value of an airport let alone an economy like Kenya’s.
“I am certain the young man who clearly from what I saw has never patronized an airport, does not even understand the value of an international airport, not an economy of ours, but the regional economy.” Stated the Majority leader in his statement
The sentiments have not sat well with a section of Kenyans have told off the majority leader. Among those that have reacted include popular Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi, in his own admission, the Lawyer has argued that President William Ruto has a serious issue with the leaders surrounding him.
The vocal Lawyer made the statement in agreement to Professor Kopalo of Georgetown University who according to Jim made similar remarks that the President has a personnel problem.
Professor Kopalo of Georgetown University aptly stated that H.E William Ruto has a “personnel problem.” I agree and have nothing useful to add.” Stated SC Ahmednasir Abdullahi in reaction to the statement made by Kiamani Ichung’wa.
