Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai today made claims about former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s relationship with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party chief Raila Odinga. He alleged that Uhuru was against Raila taking a position at the African Union, saying Uhuru wanted the role for himself but never went for it.
Alai also accused Uhuru of pushing for Mutahi Kagwe to be named Interior CS while working to limit Raila’s influence in government.
“Former President Uhuru didn’t want Raila to go to AU. Uhuru wanted AU for himself but couldn’t gather the courage to go for the seat. Uhuru didn’t want Raila to work with Ruto but now is working hard to come to Ruto himself,” Robert Alai stated.
“Now Uhuru wants Interior Ministry for Mutahi Kagwe and is advising against the appointment of more Raila allies into govt. Uhuru is working in a game of isolation. Make Raila the figure of hate for Mt. Kenya again to win Ruto some goodwill. Interesting!” Alai added.
Pauline Njoroge, who is a known ally of Uhuru Kenyatta, quickly dismissed Alai’s remarks. She is also serving as Communication Strategist in Raila’s team in the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson race. Pauline has questioned why Alai continuously spreads negative stories about the former president, asking him, “What’s your motive, bro?”
Njoroge pointed out that Uhuru and Raila have a solid relationship and regularly consult each other, making the claims baseless in her view. In her response, Njoroge asked Alai directly, “What’s your issue with Uhuru? Why do you keep inventing false stories about him?” She suggested that Alai’s statements were aimed at creating unnecessary tension and a misleading narrative.
“What is this beef you have with Uhuru really? Why do you keep making up hate stories about him? Uhuru and Raila are good friends who talk and consult regularly and I know that as a matter of FACT! But you are always trying so hard to paint a picture that is so far from the truth. Why? What’s your motive bro?” Pauline Njoroge sharply responded to Robert Alai.
This back-and-forth between Robert Alai and Pauline Njoroge shows the ongoing political discussions about alliances and motives within Kenya’s political landscape. The exchange has drawn attention to the dynamics surrounding key leaders and their supporters.
