Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has praised President William Ruto’s government, claiming its projects closely match those promised by Azimio la Umoja.
Speaking at the commissioning of the 33/11KV substation in Wundanyi on Monday, December 2, Junet shared that he has found little to oppose so far.
Junet, who is also the National Assembly Minority Leader, stated that many of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s achievements are similar to Azimio’s manifesto.
He highlighted projects such as affordable housing, industrial development, and electrification, which were common promises during the 2022 campaigns.
“The plans in Kenya Kwanza’s manifesto are very similar to ours in Azimio. Right now, the government is implementing these projects.
What is there to oppose if things are being done? I’m still waiting for something to criticize,” Junet said.
The MP expressed concerns about procedural hurdles that, in his view, slow down government work.
He criticized the requirements for public participation and consultations with MPs, civil society, and the Judiciary before executing major projects.
“A government is elected to work. But it’s being blocked at every step by the need to consult and seek approvals.
This must stop so the government can deliver what it promised,” he argued.
Junet cited the controversy surrounding the modernization of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as an example.
Critics had pressured the government to cancel the Adani-JKIA deal, but Junet defended the initiative, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure development for the country’s progress.
“Where were these critics when the decision to modernize JKIA was made? Instead of opposing, let’s focus on what matters—improving infrastructure,” he added.
Junet’s comments come at a time when the opposition faces criticism for its perceived weakness.
Mumias East MP Peter Salasya recently accused Azimio leader Raila Odinga of undermining the opposition by allegedly working with President Ruto’s administration.
Salasya claimed this move has made it harder for the opposition to hold the government accountable.
