Jimi Richard Wanjigi, a Kenyan businessman and political strategist who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Kwacha Group of Companies, has commented on the shocking attack during a burial meeting in Limuru, where former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua narrowly escaped harm.

What should have been a solemn occasion spiralled into a scene of orchestrated violence, exposing the deep fissures in Kenya’s political culture.

Social media users were quick to express their outrage, with many noting that the chaos appeared far from spontaneous. “The sequence of events shows this was choreographed,” remarked one commenter, while others condemned the deployment of goons from outside the region, describing it as a blatant disregard for the sanctity of mourning.

This incident reflects a troubling trend in Kenyan politics. Power-hungry leaders, driven by greed and the thirst for dominance, are exploiting vulnerable youths to sow fear and chaos. Compassion, empathy, and community values—once central to Kenyan society—are being eroded at an alarming rate.

As one citizen lamented, “We need leaders like Okiya Omtatah to save this country.” Wanjigi’s reaction underscores the urgent need for reform, but will the political class heed this wake-up call, or will the cycle of moral decay continue unchecked?
