Makueni Senator Daniel Maanzo has stirred political debate by asserting that the Kenya Kwanza government is vulnerable to the influence of opposition leader Raila Odinga. According to Maanzo, if Raila were to call for President William Ruto’s impeachment, the motion would gain sufficient momentum to succeed.

Speaking during a local event, Maanzo highlighted the tenuous relationship between Kenya Kwanza and the Azimio la Umoja coalition, noting that Raila commands a significant following both in Parliament and across the country. He argued that Ruto’s administration is currently operating in a politically delicate environment, leaving it susceptible to Raila’s sway.

“Raila Odinga remains a powerful figure in Kenya’s politics. If he decides to mobilize his supporters and legislators to push for Ruto’s impeachment, it will happen,” Maanzo claimed.

The senator attributed the situation to Kenya Kwanza’s alleged missteps, including economic hardships faced by Kenyans and failure to meet key campaign promises. He urged the government to engage in constructive dialogue with the opposition to avert potential instability.

Maanzo’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions. Supporters of Azimio la Umoja see this as a reflection of Raila’s enduring political clout, while Kenya Kwanza allies dismissed the statement as baseless and politically motivated.

This comes amidst ongoing tension between the government and the opposition, with Raila frequently criticizing Ruto’s policies. Observers warn that the polarization could escalate if unresolved, potentially impacting governance and development efforts.

As the political climate intensifies, all eyes remain on the leadership of both coalitions to foster unity and address the country’s pressing challenges.
