Former TV Personality Janet Mbugua has opened up on her journey with celibacy.
The mother of two has been on a journey to work on herself hence the decision to stay away from sexual relations.
Through her YouTube channel ‘Official Janet Mbugua’ she shared
“Saying I am single, sober, and celibate is not a flex. There is so much I had to pause and hear myself and make big life decisions. I am not giving myself a limit. I can unstop the things I have paused for now. I have been single, sober, and celibate for over a year. I do not know when I will go back to doing those things. I am taking time to sit on this time.”
She added Sometimes we make some decisions in life to self-preserve not because they are fun.
“It has given me so much peace and perspective but it’s also been hard. We live in a highly sexualized society. When you are celibate people assume there is something wrong with you.”
She also elaborated that she is not dating a younger man. People assumed she was after she posted the below post on her socials.
“You can meet a 45-year-old boy and a 23-year-old manâbecause maturity isnât tied to your birth year. The same goes for women. Age might bring wrinkles, but it doesnât always bring wisdom. Moral of the story: Donât let the number fool you. đ”
She now says
‘People thought it had something to do with me having a younger lover. You can be different things and they may not make sense.
Celibacy is the state of abstaining from marriage and sexual relations.
The duration one stays single is a personal choice. It can be an year, two or just a few months.
