Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has called for national unity, peace, and mutual respect between leaders and citizens, urging Kenyans to shun tribalism and foster harmony.
Speaking during a consecration service in Embu County, Kenyatta emphasized the importance of collective efforts in building a cohesive and successful nation.
He implored leaders to treat citizens with dignity and respect, emphasizing that such actions would naturally earn reciprocal respect from the public.
“Former President Uhuru Kenyatta: Let us pray for our country to have peace, harmony between leaders and citizens, and let us abandon tribalism. We are all Kenyans, and Kenya cannot succeed without unity. Leaders, show respect to the citizens, and they will return the respect,” the former president said.
(Tuombee nchi yetu kuwe na amani, uwiano kati ya viongozi na wananchi na tuwache mambo ya ukabila. Sisi wote ni Wakenya na Kenya haiwezi kufaulu kukiwa na utangamano.Viongozi, patieni wananchi heshima nao watarudisha heshima.)
The service in Embu County brought together various religious and political leaders.
President William Ruto, deputy president Kithure Kindiki and former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua were among the leaders who were present during the event.
