Media personality and former K24 news anchor Mariam Mjahid has landed a new job at British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
Mjahid announced the good news via her socials, stating that she is super ready to advance her journalism career with the international media house.
“Bismillah:Sura mpya, changamoto mpya, na ndoto zinazoanza kuchanua. Hii ni siku ya kwanza ya safari ya mafanikio.#fyp #foryou,” Mariam Mjahid shared on her socials.
The talented news anchor parted ways with the MediaMax-owned station on October 25, 2024.
“This is the day that my journey at Mediamax is coming to an end. So let me use this opportunity to say goodbye to my diehard fans and viewers.
Mjahid added that she was leaving the station as an experienced journalist ready to conquer her next assignment.
“I remember it like yesterday when we started our TV program ‘Mchipuko’ and we linked up in the Swahili language. I’m proud of my other segment, ‘MWANAMKE NA UONGOZI’ (Women in Leadership).
“I leave when I’m an editor and a producer for several programs and an experienced journalist,” she said.
She went on to thank the K24 management for the opportunity to work with them over the years.
“I want to express my gratitude to the Group Chief Executive Officer Ken Ngaruiya, the head of the Swahili Desk Shaban Ulaya, and the head of the English Desk, Ellen Wanjiru, may God bless you. Nurturing the Swahili language and sustaining It is not easy. Leaving here is not the end but the start of a new season. Goodbye for now until we meet again. Adios😎,” she said.

Mjahid joined the list of journalists who recently switched stations in pursuit of greener pastures.
Before landing at K24, Mjahid had worked at Switch TV as a news anchor and a reporter.
Her former Colleague at Switch TV now at NTV Fredrick Muitiriri used his social media to congratulate Mariam on her new role at BBC.
“From Switch TV to K24 to BBC… I saw these great journalists having a hunger to conquer the world, seeing them shine on such great platforms makes me believe that there’s a God in heaven who hears every single prayer.
“We left Switch TV a dejected lot and I’m so glad that so many of those who were under my wing have gone ahead and conquered these mountains. Huge, huge congratulations, Mariam Mjahid,” Muitiriri shared.
