She is one of the most powerful women in the Kenya Kwanza administration today. Having worked for three different governments, Dr Monica Juma is a woman to watch.
Currently serving as the president’s national security advisor, Dr Juma has seen it all having previously held similar position during the reign of former President Mwai Kibaki.
Dr Juma would go on to serve as Kenya’s ambassador to Ethiopia before being appointed by Uhuru as a Principal Secretary and later Defence, foreign affairs and energy cabinet secretary.
Once Dr Ruto took over power, Dr Juma was retained as the president’s security advisor. By virtue of her position, she is also the secretary to the National Security Advisory Council.
But following the recent appointment of Prof Kithure Kindiki as Deputy President, all eyes will be on Dr Ruto as Kenyans await for the next person to serve in the sensitive security docket.
With Dr Juma at her disposal, will he entrust this no-nonsense security expert with the powerful docket? If picked for the position, the former Defence CS will become the first woman to serve as interior minister in the history of Kenya.
