Kindiki Confused? DP Leaves Kenyans Under Heated Debate with His Dilemma Remarks - Kenyans Living It

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has stirred heated online debate with his remarks about the conflict between national and public interests. His expression of dilemma comes barely a week after his swearing-in . Appointed by President William Ruto, Kindiki stepped into the role as the second in command after Rigathi Gachagua’s unsuccessful attempts in court to prevent his own removal.

The High Court’s ruling cleared the path for Kindiki’s entry into office. His latest statements have sparked debate among Kenyans on social media with some alleging that he seems confused over what to do.

Kindiki has expressed a dilemma saying, “I have had to ask myself whether the highest interest is the public interest or if there is a higher interest called the national interest, because the public itself could hurt the national interests.”

This question raised eyebrows, as it revealed an internal struggle over whose interests he should prioritize between public interest or national interest. Some Kenyans interpreted this as a sign of confusion, with Kindiki appearing unsure about his role so soon after stepping into office.
