The government led by the Cabinet Secretary for Labour Alfred Mutua has lately been on a campaign to send thousands of Kenyans to work abroad.
The latest ongoing recruitment by an unnamed Qatari company follows an agreement with the Qatari Government to send over 8,000 Kenyans to fill slots in various fields.
These included nurses, waitresses, kids attendants, light vehicle drivers, plumbers, painters, store keepers, welders among others.
However, critics have slammed the initiative questioning the government’s ideology in exporting local labour to international countries.
The outspoken Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba wondered why thousands of learned Kenyans are being exported to do menial jobs as she argued that policies need to be changed to get rid of problems such as lack of job opportunities in the country.
Do you support Wamuchomba’s assertion on sending thousands of learned Kenyans to work for other countries?
