President William Ruto appointed Josephat Sagero to the Nairobi Rivers Commission on Monday, filling a vacancy created after Millicent Omanga declined the position just days earlier. In a gazette notice dated October 28, President Ruto confirmed Sagero’s appointment and formally revoked Omanga’s.

“Under the powers vested in me by the Constitution and laws of Kenya, I appoint Josephat Abaga Fan Sagero as a member of the Nairobi Rivers Commission for a renewable three-year term, based on performance,” the notice stated.

Omanga, a former nominated senator and past Nairobi Women Representative aspirant, initially declined her appointment on October 25 but committed to supporting efforts to rehabilitate Nairobi’s rivers.

Sagero joins a 10-member team, chaired by former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru. The commission members include Mumo Musuva, Grace Senewa Mesopirr, John Kioli, Eva Muhia, Amos Chege Mugo, Carlotta Dalago, Rael Chebichii Lelei, Benjamin Langwen, and Charles Karisa Dadu. Together, they aim to address the restoration and rehabilitation of Nairobi’s rivers.
