MP Oscar Sudi has defended the recent decision by 281 Members of Parliament to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, urging Kenyans to trust the MPs’ motives. Sudi emphasized that the lawmakers acted in the country’s best interest, aiming to prevent further political and ethnic division.

Sudi explained that efforts to mediate with Gachagua regarding his divisive political stance had failed. He warned against any form of tribalism, stating that allowing one individual to pit communities against each other threatens national unity. According to Sudi, removing leaders who incite such divisions is essential to safeguarding peace.

The MP further asserted that the impeachment vote represented a patriotic act, with MPs prioritizing the country’s stability over political affiliations. Sudi assured Kenyans that the decision was a necessary step to prevent a return to the ethnic violence experienced in 2007.
