ODM MP Daniel Manduku has asked President William Ruto to consider rewarding ODM with deputy President seat in order to secure victory in the 2027 poll.
The MP endorsed Governor Gladys Wanga as the best leader to take over from embattled DP Rigathi Gachagua.
He said ODM will ensure Ruto gets the required votes replacing those he got from Mt Kenya during the 2022 poll.
Gachagua’s removal has exposed the deep fissures in the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition, signalling a looming fierce political battle.
It is obvious that whatever the outcome of the impeachment, the relationship between the once bosom friends has deteriorated to the core.
The DP dragged his boss into his impeachment debacle when he submitted his defence on the 11 charges drawn by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse.
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah accused Gachagua of playing political games ahead of the 2027 elections, stating, “It is all about 2027. The man has tasted power and is now power hungry and blinded by greed.” His comments point to a brewing political storm as the impeachment saga unfolds.
