Veteran Luo Benga musician Princess Jully, has passed away after battling a prolonged illness.
Princess Jully whose real name was Lilian Auma Aoka died on Saturday evening while undergoing treatment at Migori County Referral Hospital.
According to reports, the ‘Dunia Mbaya’ hitmaker had been in and out of the hospital for nearly nine weeks before her passing.
In the early 2000s, Princess Jully was part of the Divas of The Nile supergroup, featuring four Kenyan female musicians. The others were Suzzana Owiyo, Achieng Abura, and Mercy Myra.
‘Kisumu 100’ hitmaker Suzzana Owiyo took to social media to pay tribute to the late singer saying, “Rest easyBenga Queen Princess Jully. Thank you for the music, your legacy will live on forever.”
