Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has, in the recent past, been the talk of town following the fallout with President William Ruto. The DP was accused on 11 grounds, which resulted in him being impeached by the National Assembly.

As reported by Saturday’s Standard newspaper, sources reveal that the embattled DP has been blackmailing the President to pay him a substantial amount of money close to Ksh.10 B.

His area Member of Parliament, Eric Wamumbi, claims that Gachagua calculated that he had been making Ksh.1.2 billion per year, which, when multiplied by a period of seven years translates to Ksh 8.4 billion. The figure was rounded off to Ksh.10 billion.

“Honestly, what don’t we have as the people of Mt Kenya in this current government? What did we ask for on behalf of the people, and we were not given? All this blackmail is about Ksh.10 billion for just one individual, which was not available. It pains a lot,” Wamumbi said

The lawmaker also claims that he fell out with his boss. He wanted Mt Kenya Leaders to blindly rally behind him to move out of government together.

The DP side of the story during recent interviews dismisses claims of him demanding money. He also maintained that he had never worked with the government since he became deputy president.
