Political risk analyst Dismas Mokua has commented on the ramifications and altercations between Governor George Natembeya of Trans Nzoia and Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula. Natembeya has been criticizing Wetangula for the past few weeks for not providing leadership to the Mulembe Nation.
He has also maintained that the Ford Kenya Party encouraged corruption in the county, leaving the people with nothing to be happy about when it comes to devolution. Their disagreements have grown more intense, which recently resulted in mayhem at a funeral they both attended.
Speaking with KTN News on Thursday, Mokua stated that Natembeya is posing the correct questions, but to the wrong person. He suggested that the county chief place the blame on the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) and former Defense CS Eugene Wamalwa.a prominent figure in government since the beginning of devolution.
“Natembeya is posing very basic queries, such as: What have the Luhyas accomplished in the community while in positions of high leadership? He’s asking the wrong person those questions. Rather of asking Eugene Wamalwa, he is asking Moses Wetangula.”
“Wamalwa, the leader of the DAP-K, served as the Cabinet Secretary for Defense, Water, and Devolution. Thus, Natembeya ought to address Wamalwa with his concerns on water structure, devolution, and the employment of a small number of Luhyas in the KDF or NYS.”
“I think Natembeya is playing Wetangula like a trick. Eugene Wamalwa is the primary target; in fact, Mokua stated, “If I were Wamalwa, I would be extremely anxious and worried.”However, Mokua criticized Wetangula for participating in party politics when, as Speaker of the National Assembly, he ought to remain impartial.
