Former employer at the office of the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has opened up ahead of a looming Impeachment motion against his boss: When he was brought on board early last year, I knew something was wrong and things would go south very quickly between the Deputy and his boss the President.
We were to make the Deputy look presidential for future endeavours by coming up with something that looked like the former “Kieleweke”.
I gave my 2 cents and advised doing that in our first term would be very destructive to the DP himself and very disrespectful to the President. I mean, it was just a year in the office. I even quoted a few people who tried the direction we were about to take and lost miserably.
The thing was…. “We will go to the people”…. I asked, which people and tell them what? Are we running for President in 2027?
I said no………. And that was my honest truth.
I approached a few colleagues and elected friends who would get to him to try convince him out of this plan. It was concluded I was selling fear and was an enemy. Most of them agreed with me but because of fear, kept quiet. There were few independent minds who also felt the direction was wrong and told him so. They will give their stories individually.
I took a back seat. I let things flow without my “hindrance” but held on what I believed in.
I supported both the President and the DP on socials against all the odds. It wasn’t fashionable but maybe if we took the route I had talked about since the first day President William Ruto visited Mt.Kenya region, DP would not be in the pit he is now.
Fast forward president William Ruto means well for this country and that we all know. And he will be re-elected come 2027. That means he will be Kenya’s President for the next 8 years. As patriotic citizens, the best we can do is support him and the Government agenda. If he succeeds, Kenya succeeds and our children will find a better country.
To my former boss…. When you find yourself in a pit like you are in. The first thing you do is to stop digging further. So that you can figure out how to get out of it. Those who are telling you to dare your boss are destroying you. None of them knows where you are coming from and how you got there.
Gachagua’s MP has also sent a message to Mt Kenya amid looming impeachment motion against the Deputy President. Wamumbi blamed Ngunjiri Wambugu for taking Gachagua to the ditch.
