UDA MP Didmus Barasa has sarcastically commented on the recent disappearance and release of the “Kitengela 3,” stating, “I am hearing rumours that the disappeared and now found Kitengela 3 were being held in a house belonging to Jimi Wanjigi for political reasons.” Barasa then questioned why Gilbert Masengeli was dragged into the situation, referring to former acting Inspector General Masengeli, who was earlier found in contempt of court for not updating the public on the missing men’s whereabouts.

The disappearance of the Kitengela 3 Bob Njagi, Jamil Longton, and his brother Aslam sparked national attention after they went missing on August 19, 2024, during Generation Z protests. Their case led to accusations against the police, though both the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and police authorities denied involvement.

The three men were later found in separate locations. Bob Njagi, a FreeKenya Movement coordinator, was found dumped in Thogoto around 3 a.m., while the Longton brothers were released earlier and discovered in Gachie, Kiambu. LSK President Faith Odhiambo confirmed their release and thanked the public for their prayers, while KTN journalist Mvita Manzu tweeted about Njagi’s release on X.

Despite the public’s demand for answers, the police, led by DCI boss Mohamed Amin and Inspector General Douglas Kanja, continued to deny any role in the abduction. Businessman Jimi Wanjigi, who has also been linked to the case, previously complained of police harassment at his Muthaiga residence, accusing officers of attempting to arrest him. Wanjigi denied the allegations, claiming he was being targeted for political reasons due to his support for the ongoing Generation Z protests.
