Exits William Oloonkishu Yiampoi. Enters Noah Maiyo. And just like that, President William Ruto has a new chief bodyguard.
Maiyo is the man. In fact, he is not a stranger to the inner workings of presidential security. He has been omnipresent in Ruto’s security for over one decade right from his days as Deputy President.
For all this time, he has been in-charge of operations right from his time at the DP’s office.
In 2022, when Oloonkishu Yiampoi was named as the new Presidential Escort Unit commander, Maiyo was picked as the director of operations- the position he has held for the last 21 months.
And now, he has been thrown at the helm of one of the most complicated police units in the country.
The physically imposing Maiyo will be the man to coordinate a team of over 200 elite police officers who have the sole responsibility of ensuring that the Head of State, his deputy, retired Presidents and visiting Presidents and Prime Ministers are safe.
Maiyo who is in the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, becomes the second head of PEU during the Ruto presidency after Oloonkishu Yiampoi, who was recently moved to police headquarters and appointed as the new director of operations.
