On Sunday, September 8, Geoffrey Mosiria, Nairobi County’s Environment Chief Officer, intervened in a party held in Kilimani due to noise complaints. The incident was captured on video, showing Mosiria demanding the organizers lower the music volume to address the grievances of local residents. The party, attended mostly by Nigerians, continued but without music after Mosiria’s intervention.
The altercation escalated when one party goer, upset by the interruption, engaged Mosiria in a verbal exchange, even threatening to take further action. Mosiria stood firm, insisting the music be turned off to maintain peace in the neighborhood.
In the video, Mosiria is heard telling the attendees, “People are sleeping, please. Moving forward, no music will be played here. You can continue partying, but no music.” This action was met with resistance by some guests.
This is not the first time Mosiria has taken a bold stance. In August, he exposed poor hygiene standards at a food kiosk in Nairobi’s Central Business District. He uncovered that food vendors were using public toilets to store utensils, posing health risks to customers. The hotel was later shut down after the discovery.
Mosiria has gained public attention for his firm approach to restoring order in Nairobi, especially on issues related to health and noise pollution.
