During the launch of ODM Party leader Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) at Kenya’s State House, President Yoweri Museveni sparked laughter among the gathered crowd with his candid remarks about Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
The Ugandan President, known for his direct style, openly claimed that intelligence reports from both Kenya and Uganda have repeatedly shown that Babu Owino has been aligning himself with opposition figures in Uganda.
Museveni’s comments took the audience by surprise, as he humorously addressed the young politician’s alleged connections. The President then turned his attention to Raila Odinga, issuing a stern warning.
He advised Raila to be cautious of the people surrounding him, hinting that some may not have his best interests at heart, particularly those like Babu Owino, who Museveni implied could be double-dealing.
The event, meant to solidify Raila’s AUC bid, quickly took a different tone as Museveni’s remarks stirred both amusement and concern.
The President’s comments have since ignited discussions about the political dynamics between Kenya and Uganda, as well as the implications for Raila’s continental ambitions.
