Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale has taken a swipe at national treasury cabinet secretary John Mbadi after he said there is no enough money to fund the hiring of JSS interns on permanent terms.

Mbadi appeared on citizen TV on Thursday night where he divulged various details touching on the country’s economy.

“We don’t have resources for recruiting JSS teachers on permanent and we don’t have resources for the additional 20,000. This year is a year of serious challenges, we are trying to manage the budget,” Mbadi said during the interview with Sam Gituku.

In response to the comments by Mbadi Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale explained about the lack of enough teachers in his county. He gave some examples of schools that did not have enough teachers.

“Last night, CS John Mbadi told us there is no money to employ JSS teachers. We can not run away from the debate on CBC. Like many other schools in Western, Cheng’oli Comprehensive School in Bungoma County has only 3 teachers for JSS. They handle 14 learning areas(subjects) for 130 students,” Khalwale said.
