Gideon Kipkorir, popularly known as Mr. Sniper, claims he was physically assaulted and lost his job for singing in support of President William Ruto.
Mr. Sniper, a well-known singer from Eldoret, shared his ordeal, stating that his performance at a local political rally was met with unexpected consequences.
According to Kipkorir, shortly after his performance, where he praised President Ruto, he was approached by a group of men who criticized his choice of lyrics.
What started as verbal abuse quickly escalated into a physical altercation, leaving him bruised and shaken.
To add to his woes, Mr. Sniper alleges that he was dismissed from his job shortly after the incident. His employer reportedly cited “unacceptable behavior” as the reason for his termination, a claim Kipkorir strongly disputes.
Speaking to local media, Mr. Sniper expressed his dismay over the incident, questioning the tolerance for free expression in the country.
“I was only exercising my right to support a leader I believe in,” he lamented, “but now I am left without a job and living in fear.”
The incident has sparked discussions on social media about the dangers of political expression in Kenya.
