In a harrowing incident, a family’s journey to a funeral in Kitui took a terrifying turn when their hired 14 seater matatu crashed near Mutomo town. The vehicle, carrying 14 family members, lost control and collided with a tree at high speed, causing serious damage.
According to reports from Musyi FM, the family had traveled from Kilifi to attend the funeral. Thankfully, while several passengers sustained injuries, the family managed to escape death by a narrow margin.
The crashed matatu, with its front part severely crushed, was a stark reminder of the impact of the accident. Traffic officers from Kitui arrived at the scene, documented the incident, and towed the wrecked vehicle to Mutomo Police Station to begin their investigation.
Social media users expressed their shock and relief upon learning of the family’s ordeal. Many flocked to Musyi FM’s Facebook page to wish the injured a swift recovery and to highlight the increasing prevalence of road accidents in various parts of Kenya.
