Shortly after the swearing-in of new cabinet secretaries, the president of this country Dr William Samoe Ruto has reportedly come out to make a new announcement concerning State officers.

As reported by Citizen TV, the head of state has now announced that all public servants will now face financial penalties for losing public resources. These State officers includes cabinet secretaries who have just been sworned in. Ruto said that this move is to ensure that all public and state officers becomes accountable as a way of reducing corruption and mismanagement of public resources.

“To enhance accountability and promote responsibility for the use of public resources, we shall introduce measures to levy a surcharge against any accounting officer or other public officer who has by their action or omission, occasioned loss of public resources in accordance with Article 226 (5), 201 (d) and 232 (b) of the Constitution.” Said Dr William Samoe Ruto.
